The process development and commercialization (PDC) department receives from other MSD sites culture and purification processes which are to be developed further and brought to scale for transfer toward large scale manufacturing sites. These process development effort using quality by design (QbD) and design of experiment (DOE) studies require analytical support. The process analytics section of the PDC department participates in the USP and DSP project teams and is responsible for performing analytical methods as well as keeping methods and techniques up to date and in-line with the analytical departments. A technician of the process analytics department is responsible for: Analytical support to USP and DSP process development project teams. Several HPLC, ELISA and Electrophoresis techniques are required to support process development. Communication with USP and DSP within a project team as well a in-depth expertise on analytical methods are essential for being successful. The laboratory technician is expected to perform a variety of analytical methods and report the results back to the project team. Besides support also setting up new analytical methods for automation and more high throughput process support is a key task of the lab technician
