The Research Centre, located in Rijswijk, of an international leading energy company.

The challenge

The mission and primary purpose of the Rock & Fluid Science program is to develop and execute state-of-the-art experimental capabilities that support maximising the economic recovery from current and future Shell hydrocarbon reservoirs. Delivery of robust basic Geomechanical, Petrophysical, Geochemical, PVT and Reservoir Engineering data is essential to generate realistic models of the subsurface for investment decisions, concept selection, acreage acquisition, and new business development. Laboratory technical staff play a key role in the Rock & Fluid Science program by providing assistance to Scientist, Engineers, and Technologists by delivering sound laboratory/research results. This position is specifically focused on geomechanics.

Delivering exceptional HSE performance is critical to success.

This position requires assisting Scientists, Engineers, and Project Leaders in managing key elements of laboratory functions. These include:

  • Geomechanics, CO2, Reservoir Surveillance, Operating units

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor (HBO) degree in Geomechanics, Geochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or similar
  • Both starters and more experienced candidates are welcome to apply
  • Experience in geomechanics is a plus, otherwise you must be willing and able to rapidly work yourself into a new area of expertise
  • Commitment to Goal Zero and ability to drive improvements in safety culture
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze experimental data to level sufficient for immediate application in research
  • A genuine belief in and respect for people where diversity and differences are seen as opportunities for enhancing Shell’s performance
